Sapna Bhavnani Wiki Bio

Sapna Bhavnani is a Celebrity Hairstylist based in Mumbai, India. She is best known for her participation in Bigg Boss season 6, a popular reality show broadcasted on Colors TV. Bhavnani, a committed Feminist, is also known for her contribution to the field of Fashion, writing, photography and entertainment industry.

Family & Early Life

Born on January 5, 1971, in Mumbai, in a Sindhi family. She was raised on Bandra, Mumbai where she completed her schooling. Sapna was bright student and well known for being tomboy type during the early days.

Her father owned a cabaret joint named Blue Neil and a Chinese restaurant called Wongs. After her father’s demise, 1989, she dropped out of college and moved to Chicago, America to earn money and support her family financially.

She has graduated with double majors in Marketing and Communication. Initially, she took up odd jobs for financial stability and cash flow, but later developed an interest in hairdressing to take it up as a profession.

“I decided that by the time I hit 30, I wanted to have a house in the hills, a Cadillac and an Elvis lookalike boyfriend.” she said in an interview with Tehelka Magazine.

Notable Work

In 2002, Sapna visited Mumbai after 6 years and decided to stay back considering her relationship and future plans. In the beginning, she started working in Salons but later started her own brand called “Mad-O-Wot”.

Gradually her brand and business flourished, and she started working with India’s top celebrities from Bollywood, Sports, Business, and Politics. Sapna’s client base includes Priyanka Chopra, Mandira Bedi, Dino Morea, Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Siddharth Mallya, and many more.

She has expanded her business and brand in various verticals which include a Production House and SoFake, Fashion Line.

Bhavnani was part of a play titled NIRBHAYA which earned Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award given to an outstanding Fringe production which raises awareness of human rights.

The play premiered in the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the largest arts festival in the world in August 2013.

Did You Know & Trivia

Sapna has authored a non-fiction self-help book titled Style-O-Wot that targeted teen girls for fashion, trends, and style. She has actively endorsed PETA‘s cause for humane approach to animals and in July 2011 and January 2013.

She became part of a lot of controversy in Bigg Boss Season 6, due to her outspoken nature and her constant difference with the host of the show Salman Khan.

In an interview, with PTI, she said “Salman is not God, neither am I. We have differences, he is the no. 1 star, which doesn’t mean that I have to act with him in a certain way.”

By participating in a reality show, she wanted to pass on a strong and clear message to females…

“I wanted to show that a 42-year-old Indian woman can look like this, cannot wear a saree, cannot have the traditional long hair, not be married at 42, not have kids, and be extremely happy,” said Sapna in an interview with Viacom 18 Media.
